Everybody knows that you're insane
Thank you Judy!
Thank you Judy!
All 60 t-shirts were successfully printed last friday. Prints on the fabric for the i-Pod cases came out pretty well, too.
After we took a day off yesterday, Seb and D are heavily working on finishing the design of the remaining sections while Erin is about to program the whole thing. Hopefully, we'll be able to give you an insight where it's at during the next days.
Today, we designed four pin badges and sent them to badgesforbands.com. We are supposed to get the samples (to verify the design) within the next 24 hours. We are thinking about 200 badges - 50 for each design.
The idea behind the badges:
If you wear them on a black t-shirt, you will only see the yellow forms which derive from the graphical layer.
The final design for the t-shirts was also finished today.
We will leave Zurich tomorrow morning to meet our silkscreen printer Axel in Lenzburg (about 20min by train). Thanks to him, we get to print the t-shirts ourselves.
We'll keep you updated about the outcome of this adventure.
Erin aka "the flash god" got the assets for the site this morning and has already laid his hands on the coding. We had a meeting with him yesterday and came up with a few new ideas.
We just finished the revised layout for the homepage-section of the FORM MUSIC website.
Here are few features of the site besides the fancy navigation:
So to speak: Get the list of the last 20 albums Mark recently listened to, get their artwork images from the amazon database and position it randomly on the site's background.
This feature will not be implemented in the demo version we will present on July, 7th but we like the idea of having this feature on the fully-featured site.Well it was about time and you've seen it in the header for quite some time:
Form Music's logo!
It is a slightly improved version of the Cepo by T-26.
(maybe we should write it uppercase from now on…).
Furthermore, we received the gorgeous iPod-case prototype this morning. With it, lots of fabric, the sewing pattern and a «How-to-make-the fabulous-iPod-case-manual».
The website-design is taking shape.
Today, we worked out the design of the homepage section. It's getting cosy and inviting there! Details on the functionality will follow asap.
Tomorrow, we will head for the navigation...
We're pretty sure that our headline-font won't change anymore.
It's the beautiful CEPO designed by Mário Feliciano.
Whilst working on typography and imagery-layout, we would like to unveil the latest update of our work on the website. It's a revised version of our previously developed navigation.
Every stop equals a specific section of the site.
Comments, critique and suggestions for improvements are always appreciated!
After a day of adjusting, fine-tuning and tweaking, Seb and D are pleased to announce the definitive imagery for the Form Music identity.
We realized that a lot of people just didn't know what exactly music sourcing and licensing is. And so did we when we started this project. It gets clearer if you know that sourcing is an important part for film- and TV-productions.
So we thought:
Better than showing abstract images we chose the instruments of Form Music's daily work and arranged them in a playful and elegant setting.
Furthermore, the reduction in colour with a tendency to black & white and the increased contrasts is a manifestation of clear decisions – A great selection (the sourcing) is based on precise and pre-determined criteria.
We just finished our last photoshooting.
We are very happy with the results. Images will be uploaded tomorrow after retouching.
39 days to go…
Long time – no read.
A few updates:
After a few fruitful discussions with our teachers we decided to (once again) go back to the original idea of using an imagery layer. We are currently working in the studio of swiss-american photographer Stephan Schacher - thank you for helping us out!
Images will be uploaded as soon as we've got what we want.
Concerning the iPod-case:
As you may have read lovely Ms. Azusa Itoi from Tokyo has developed an Ipod Case for us and the finished mock-up will be sent to Switzerland this monday.
We will be in Lenzburg [AG] sometime between the 5th and 7th to print the artwork on the case. The artwork is still in development.
We also received the 60 T-Shirts we ordered.
Artwork still in development but close to the designs we did a few weeks ago. Silkscreen printing – white on black and royal blue t-shirts.
We've finished the graphical pattern for the website-design and started working on implementing them into the site-design.
The FM Website consists of five sections, every section represented by a slightly different pattern. If the user navigates from one section to another the patterns slide from left to right.
Since these patterns stand for the music archive of FM this animation suggests a scrolling trough the whole catalogue of the Form Music collection.
Check out the mock-up.Here's the first design for the core product of the Form Music identity. Details on the concept and interaction will follow as soon as we get some developed flash-bits.
Just came back from a meeting with Erin and we're really looking forward working with him for the next weeks.
Cool guy – massive knowledge ;-)
This is another revision of the graphical pattern which is going to be an important part of the Form Music Design.
As explained in previous posts, the patterns (deriving from the formats of the 7", 12" vinyl records and the CD) will express the music archive of the company as well as a substantial part of FM's work:
Sourcing and reviewing musical data on the basis of certain valuation criterias - organizing, filtering, and structuring.
Next Wednesday, we'll have an important presentation with our professors. We have got shitloads to do until then. But you'll get to see the first designs for each and every product by thursday.
We got a new header! «Design in progress!»
In case you haven't already noticed, we increased the number of postings. The design is finally getting somewhere.
Our T-Shirt order arrived this morning in Munich*. We'll travel to Munich (about 4.5 hours by car) on June, 3rd to see Maximo Park and pick up the t-shirts.
*thanks dom!Today Seb and D left Zurich to buy some packaging material from ratioform, a packaging company located in a tiny swiss village called «Dällikon».
The folded carton will be used to send out the Form Music CD compilation to potential clients. We are also thinking about producing a printed tape for the packaging, but as it seems you have to buy 36 rolls minimum…and that is…err…nearly 2.5 kilometres of tape for about 320 CHF.
The balance of our budget will help us decide.Good News!
We gained the support of Azusa Itoi, product-designer of the excellent japanese label Muji. She is about to create an exclusive Form Music iPod-case, strictly limited to a few copies, only available for Form Music associates.
The sketch above will vary from the final design - just imagine it without the window.
We will keep you updated…
